4th of July in Michigan

We made another long road trip, up to MI this time. The start to the trip was a little rough when I walked out of work on Thursday night and had a flat tire. After managing to get a new tire, we left town only an hour and a half behind schedule... and hit every construction zone in IL. We arrived in Indianapolis greatly anticipating sleep at our hotel, only to get stuck in stand still traffic at 12:30 at night! Finally we got to the hotel around 1:30... slept for a couple hours and left at about 7:00 -- taking advantage of Matthias sleeping -- and drove to Frankenmuth, MI!

Matthias was just happy to be out of the car!

So many great decorations!

Then we headed to Auburn for a few days with Grandma and Grandpa Kohn. He also got to meet his "Crazy Aunt Allison" (self named) and Uncle Nathan as well as several of Elden's Aunts and Uncles. Great family time!

Lots of kisses from grandma...

and snuggles with grandpa

he really was happy to meet his uncle Nathan...

We decided to take the "easy way out" to travelling with Matthias and left MI at 12:00 am, driving straight through the night. Matthias slept almost the whole way and didn't get fussy until we crossed the river in to St. Louis at 9:30am! Mom and dad, however, were exhausted!

He has been growing so fast. Check out these pictures. The first is in his newborn froggy sleeper. Then I found the same sleeper in a bigger size. We can't believe how big is now!

And finally, we had a little 4th of July treat!
