Well, somebody turned two on Tuesday!!! Our little man is just that... a little man. His vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds and started putting two or three word sentences together just in time to run out of his room on his birthday, look at this present, and say "Open this!" Haha.
We had a little party for him on Sunday evening with some of his friends here at the seminary. It was, of course, digger themed.
Matthias was pretty excited to walk in and see all of the digger stuff. The poor boy just wanted to play with his cake, though, and we had to keep telling him to wait.
There were digger hats, digger coloring pages, diggers to play with and then the favorite game... wrecking ball (a few pool noodles and balloons for toddlers to hit)!!
"Finally... I can play with my cake!"
He even blew out his own candles without spitting on the cake!
And as a special treat, he got to use his digger to eat his cake. He still talks about this. And wants to use his digger to eat everything now. Luckily I found some silverware that is made in the shape of diggers... phew!
Elden put his elementary education degree to work and led the kids in some of Matthias' favorite songs.
Then on Tuesday we celebrated his actual birthday. There were streamers to run through and presents to open! Daddy stayed home in the morning to spend a little time with us instead of his usual study time in the library.
Present from mom and dad... a work bench, just like daddy's!!
And daddy made him some special pancakes... which ice cream and strawberries. What do you think the one below looks like? I thought a turtle. Elden was going for dump truck. Hmmm....
And some more cards and gifts!
A goodie box from the CA cousins!!!
And then the birthday celebration continued on Wednesday. The other gift that we got him was a small tee-ball set. But it was raining on Tuesday so we had to wait to give it to him. Then we went to the park so he had lots of space to play with it. (Then it was rainy ALL DAY today so the poor tyke couldn't play with it... boo!)
Nora watched her big bro up at bat. (She is QUITE entertained watching him these days. LOVE those smiles!)
Daddy got to show him how to do it once. Then it was "No Daddy" for the rest of the time. Poor daddy didn't get a turn :(
And then there is dear, sweet 4-month old Nora. She weighed in at 14lb 10oz at her dr. visit. She is 75% for weight but... 90% in length! Watch out Matthias!
Since spring has been a bit on the cool side we've had to bundle Nora up to have her out when Matthias is playing.
Four months and super smiley!
