Well, Matthias has now ridden on an airplane! We went to Michigan for a week and had a great time hanging out with family and catching up with some friends. We were a little nervous about the airplane rides because Matthias is so active (fast crawler!!!!) and doesn't do well sitting still, but he did great! Some people on the plane helped entertain him (and he probably entertained them as well :) and snacks also made the trip a little easier!
It was cold when we left MN... and we were kind of rushed getting the shuttle to the aiport, so we had to just pile the blankets on. He thought it was a great adventure :)
Watching the planes and trucks with daddy! While waiting to board Matthias had fun exploring the airport... and was enthralled by a dance team going to Florida.... a sign of things to come?
Matthias' first airplane ride!!! He loved watching out he widows, especially during landings.
We were all pretty tired when we got to Grandma and Grandpa's house, but daddy found a little energy to be silly. May we present George Washington:
Grandma got some fun toys! And yet with all of the toys, he kept going back to the measuring cups that she let him play with. (well, that and the balls from this game. You may notice them in his hand throughout the pictures :)
Chillin' with Daddy... measuring cup in hand!
We had some excellent wine (and amazing cheese!) but had to laugh when Grandma came home with this bottle: Vicar's Choice!
So many presents! (ball in hand :)
His own cell phone!! (and wrapping paper!)
We took a trip to Frankenmuth and ate at Zenders! Grandma was with us but the nice gentleman who offered to take a picture for us (so that we could get one with EVERYONE!) accidently cut her out... grrr.
Matthias was SOO good during lunch. When it came time to leave, we realized why. He had a rather large mess on his backside. I had extra clothes, but my stomach sank when I realized that I had left all the diapers at home. Elden improvised... with a napkin :) I don't think we'll send it back to them!
And of course, a trip to Bronner's! And during our visit to MI we found out that Matthias will have a little BOY cousin!! Congratulations, Nathan and Allison!
We visited with Matthias' great-great-aunt Nelda (almost 90 years old!)
Just couldn't wait for breakfast to come :)
Bathtime! He loves his new bath toys that he got for Christmas!
And we are starting to explore the world of standing! He doesn't pull himself up completely and doesn't like to hold on to things when he is up, but he is thinking about it! He is getting so big - a grand old 9 months now!
We had a wonderful trip! He loved playing with Grandma and Grandpa and the rest of the family and friends. It was also fun to see some baby pictures of Elden while we were there and realize just how much Matthias resembles them! I've got such handsome boys in my life!
