Of course our first day on the road included two large blowouts from Nora... and then our battery died after a lunch stop. (Battery was fixed in MI!) But other than that we had two pretty good travelers and some fun family memories!
We got to see our friends, the Dieners, who have two boys a couple years older than Matthias and a little girl 2 months younger than Nora. Matthias really enjoyed playing with the big boys. Nora and Anna just kind of looked at each other and got jealous when one got a bottle and the other didn't :)
And we love our visits to Frankenmuth! We revisited the scene of the crime... Zhenders... where Matthias had a blowout at our last visit. (You may recall a cloth napkin being pilfered because I forgot the diapers... ) We also had to stop by Bronners to pick up a few Christmas ornaments and other fun things!
Back in Bay City Elden was excited to share a Kohn tradition with Matthias. Grandpa Tony's Banana Split. This thing is huge! I don't know if I've seen my boys so excited before :)
Two VERY happy boys! (after eating for a while, Matthias announced that he was cold!)
Riding the "Big Big Boat" out to Mackinac Island! Matthias still talks about it.
A gorgeous day on the Island. Unfortunately we didn't get to "do" much on the island because they started charging admission for things that used to be free, but we walked around a lot and had fudge and ice cream and fish n' chips. Vacation Kohn style involves a lot of eating!
Fort Macinac... it used to be free to tour. Now they charge like 11 bucks a person! Yikes! We just enjoyed hearing the cannon and seeing the little bugler come out on the "deck?" every so often.
From Mackinaw City it was a long drive to Duluth. Of course we had a nice "MN in June" welcome and had to find out sweatshirts once we got there. But we loved walking around the harbor and of course finding good things to eat :)
