Settling in

Well, here we are. Macon, MO. I think we can finally say that we feel settled. Elden has been ordained and installed. He finished his first week of office stuff and his first Sunday service. We made it! Overall we are feeling pretty good about everything. But of course nothing can stay quiet for long... it is VBS this week!! 

Here's a recap of our moving adventures. 

While we were on vacation, Nora learned to appreciate real food. So we had to get the iconic "prune face" picture when we got home.

But apparently prunes weren't enough because when we made a last trip to Red Robin before moving she was ready for the fries, burger and the basket! (She had to settle for chewing on the straw... )

The church hired movers for us, which was nice because didn't have the stress of packing the boxes, nor did we have to live amongst boxes for more than a night. We had to leave Matthias' train set out because we promised that he could have it to play with in the "blue house" when we got there (and the moving truck wasn't coming until the next day). Story of the "Blue House:" When we started looking at houses Matthias requested a blue one. Well, our house is cream with yellow shutters and red brick. However, it does have two blue walls in the living room/entry, so it is known as the blue house.

The movers loaded us up in the morning and then we headed to a hotel for the afternoon/night before driving to Macon on Friday morning. While there Nora figured out how to get up on all fours. Oh yay.

Matthias must have thought we planned a little present for him because our room at the hotel had THE perfect view of the road construction. I mean, there were dump trucks and skid steers, and roller trucks and cranes. Did I mention that he liked it?

Nora enjoyed her first time in the pool. Matthias liked it fairly well, but wanted to stick pretty close to mom and dad despite having two flotation devices on at the same time.

On Friday morning we drove to Macon and did a walk-through on the house before closing that afternoon. So we pulled into the driveway excited about our new home... and Nora had a surprise for us! So we broke in our front yard with a blow-out diaper change. Thanks, Nora!

Yes, the train was the first thing in the house and the first thing set up in the house. We like to keep the little man happy. He was beyond thrilled with his new room and his train IN his new room!

Our first meal. We had no furniture or belonging, so we did pizza on the back porch.

The next morning the movers came and unloaded the truck.

How do you keep a two-year-old entertained while unpacking? Make a huge pile of the paper and let him at it. (Daddy enjoyed a break from unpacking as well... )

Ordination. What a day! It was exhausting but a great service. One of the members took Nora out for me just before the actual ordination. They brought her back in for pictures and she had something to say about me letting a "stranger" taker her away...

But then as soon as the camera snapped the first picture, she flashed a beautiful smile and stole the hearts of the congregation. (Please note, she is NOT smiling in the candid picture below. There were professional one taken that hopefully I'll post soon.)

So here we are! Macon, MO. Enjoying our new church and home and learning all about our new town. (They have a great coffee shop and really great restaurant!) Come visit!
